An article about the “dream program” that some Virginia Dreamers have to endure is coming to an end.
Last month, the Virginia Dream Alliance, an advocacy group, filed a lawsuit against the state, alleging that the program “has caused emotional distress, physical harm, and psychological harm to the Virginia DREAMers, their families, and communities.”
The suit alleges that the state’s program has created a “disenfranchised and stigmatized” population.
And in a statement to The Verge, the Dream Alliance said that the lawsuit is “an opportunity to stop this nightmare before it happens again.”
Virginia Dream Program founder, John Darnell, told the Virginia Journal-Constitution that the group will “continue to fight for the rights of the Dreamers in Virginia.”
